Commissioning Process

Initial consultation: The aim of the first meeting would be to outline the project brief, giving the client the opportunity to discuss their requirements and to browse my portfolio. We would also discuss desired timbers and other materials required, a timescale and a budget for the commission. Ideally, this meeting would take place in the location in which the piece of furniture is to be sited. I would also take measurements during this meeting.

Commission proposal: The next stage will be for me to present my design ideas, along with concept drawings, timber samples and an initial estimate of costs. After a full discussion of these proposals with the client and having made any necessary design alterations, a final quotation or estimate will be produced.  Some commissions may incur a design fee which would be made clear before any work is undertaken and would be deducted from the final balance.

Continuous consultation: some aspects of design are not always visible until the commission reaches the 3-dimensional stage and therefore slight alterations may then be required.

Payment details: At the point of ordering, a 50% deposit will be required to secure your place in my making schedule, with the balance due on completion.

Delivery of the commission is carried out personally.
